Learning now in the 21st century is easier then ever before. When learning about something you don’t have to rely on only books anymore. When you go on the computer your not just learning on your own, you can learn from multiple people and they can learn from you. This year my class and I have learnt from many different sites that connect us together to expand or knowledge .

The most useful ones that I’ll probably keep using  as I go to high school next year are edublogs, Flickr, Picnik, youtube, Google and Wordle. even if my teacher doesnt know that much about using them as tools in class, I can educate her and then she’ll pass the learning abilities on. I think I’ll use them when I have to write an essay

Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I went on a field trip to the Vancouver Aquarium. We saw lots of cool fish, animals and reptiles. I saw an animal that looked like a alligator but it was actually called a kamen. There were bugs there too, I saw giant cockroaches!  We also saw crabs, sea stars and snails and we got to feel them!! Only if we followed the “pinky’s only rule” We were only allowed to feel them with our pinky’s so we wouldn’t do as much damage to them, and they wouldn’t do as much damage to us! Because losing your pinky isn’t as bad as losing an index finger!

 We slept right beside a beluga whale tank, it was so cool watching the whales while we fell asleep. At 6:OO AM we woke up to breakfast! I had fruit loops and juice . After that we were allowed to wander around before the gift shop opened. That’s when I saw a monkey! It was so tiny and cute! When the gift shop opened everyone went in and looked around. I saw lots of stuff I would have bought but it was expensive .  Since I didn’t buy anything because of the prices, my friend gave me a badge that says Vancouver Aquarium! After that, sadly we had to leave. We got on a bus that drove us to the ferry.

On the ferry I got a buddie and we went to the arcade, she didnt like hanging around there to long so I had to keep switching buddies. When people came and old buddies left, I spent about 8 dollars there and borrowed money from other people. After we got off the ferry our driver didn’t take us back to school like everyone else’s drivers, we went to a ultrasound place, a corner store and then she dropped me off at home!

Challenge four is about the environment. March has a lot of days dedicated to respecting our natural resources, we have been given choices for what to write about,  the choices were: 

World Forestry Day on March 21st,  World Water Day on March 22nd,  World Meteorological Day on  March 23rd and Earth Hour on  March 27th.

My ecological footprint is 7.2 global hectares and  takes up 8.8 football fields. I am going to try to down size on power and electronics and I won’t be eating as much processed and packaged food.

 I didn’t know about any of them besides Earth hour. I didn’t know when it was until the day before it happened!! For Earth hour you turn all unnecessary appliances that are plugged into the wall, like T.V’s, hairdryers, phone chargers and more as well as turning off lights. Since Earth hour was on a Saturday there’s no school and so at school almost all of the lights all were turned off. When I say almost that means there’s one or two here and there so people don’t walk face first into lockers and there’s one on in the stairway. The bathroom lights were all off and so some people from my class and the other grade seven class pointed a flashlight at the ceiling so people could see. For most of the hour it was silent reading and stuff and on Saturday I also entertained myself by using natural light so I could see and read. What did you do to entertain yourself for that hour?

For challenge three I added the weather widget. I also added the Google translator widget so people that speak different languages could read my blog!   I went to widgetbox.com to get both of the widgets. I clicked on find widget, typed in weather widget, typed in a certain code and embeded it onto my blog and *Poof* I have a weather widget!!  The weather widget says what the weather is here in the Comox Valley. You can set the weather widget for Fahrenheit or Celsius, I put it as Celsius because that’s what most people use here.

Today is my birthday! I’m thirteen now. My birthday was at exactly 7:20 this morning, I woke up extra early and my mom sang happy birthday to me ! Yes, I said ‘extra early’ because I usually sleep in till 8 and then rush to school. After school I’m having my birthday party. My mom is driving my friends from school to my house and on the way there I have to pick up my birthday cake from Dairy Queen. I picked out my cake yesterday, it is covered in yellow icing and has a smiley face on it! My mom got them to write ‘Happy 13th Birthday Brianna!’ and she bought sparklers to put on it

My friends Jordenne, Aleah and Hailey are coming to my birthday party, They would have appeared at my house even if I didn’t invite them.. that’s because  they are weirdos! (The good kind of wierdos)

Wow.. exactly 13 years ago.. I was born .. Weird.. :) What are you doing for your birthday? (I’m having a party with my best friends!)

My class been talking to Mr.Web’s class in New Zealand and we have been practicing a Maori mihi greeting. We recorded it using Vocaroo so they could hear it. Mine is a bit loud because I was using a sensitive microphone so I suggest you turn your volume down low.

The greeting first says hello and then my mountain (the mountain that was closest to my birth place), my river (the river closest to my birth place) my principal, teacher, division and name. The greeting can be different then that but we are saying that because we are saying it to another class. Learning the Maori mihi greeting was really difficult at first, but after I practiced it, I memorized it.

Grade six’s and seven’s in my school are doing a entrepreneur fair and I’m making stress balls! Please complete this survey to help me find out how to sell my product better.

I was supposed to do Challenge two  a couple of weeks ago but I got sick and I lost my voice and I wasn’t in the mood to do homework… So I’m catching up now!  This challenge is about avatars and representing ourselves using avatar makers like:

It’s also about not putting pictures of yourself online, and I think it’s  much better to use an avatar instead. You always need permission to put pictures of yourself online or use other friends’ pictures but if you use a avatar then it’s more private. Once you put a picture you can never fully take it down, people could have saved it on there computers already and they can put that anywhere they want. Using avatars helps you keep your online identity safe.

Well then you came to the right place!! I write about music but I also write about holidays, recent things that have happened to me and of course class  assignments. The most recent event has been this! The 1st part of the blogging challenge!! I’m also working on the 2nd part of the blogging challenge because I had spring break off and got a break from a week of school so this week we (my class and I) are doing two challenges in one week!!
